Donating to Goodwill is a great way to declutter your home while helping others in need, but do you really know what happens after you drive away from your neighborhood Donation Center?
Here are some key things you should know about donating to Goodwill:
Ohio Valley Goodwill gladly accepts a wide range of gently used items, including clothing, accessories, shoes, jewelry, linens, housewares, books, toys, and small appliances.
However, there are some things we unfortunately cannot accept. It’s always a good idea to check our list of accepted donation items before you head to your nearest Donation Center.
There are many ways you can make a donation to Ohio Valley Goodwill. Probably the best known is to donate gently used household items at one of our many Donation Centers located throughout the Cincinnati region.
But that’s not your only option! If you have items to donate that you can’t transport yourself, we’ve partnered with ReSupply for home pickup. You can also tap into our partnership with College Hunks Hauling Junk to collect your items. Don’t have items to donate? No problem! You can also make a financial donation online.
If you plan to drop off your items at an Ohio Valley Goodwill Donation Center, be considerate of others and follow any posted guidelines at the donation center. Please avoid leaving items outside donation bins or centers when they are closed “” come back again when we’re open!
Goodwill is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, so your donations may be tax-deductible. To claim a deduction, you’ll need to keep a detailed list of the items you donated and their approximate value. To help with your record-keeping, you can request a donation receipt when you drop off your donations. This receipt will help you document your charitable contribution for tax purposes.
