Veterans Served by Goodwill Enjoy Holiday Outreach of Mount Zion Baptist Church Members!

Ohio Valley Goodwill is always grateful during this very special time of the year for the support of the Greater Cincinnati community for the organization’s mission of service. This year was no exception as members of the Mount Zion Baptist Church under the direction of Reverend Eileen English prepared a delicious holiday feast for the veterans currently being served through Goodwill’s transitional housing program. In addition to the fabulous home-cooked meal with all the trimmings, each veteran received a gift bag with bus passes and gas cards.

One of the highlights of this year’s wonderful visit by the Mount Zion Baptist Church members was a performance by the gospel singing group, “Fo Mo Brothers” who provided live music and Christmas songs during the delicious meal. The mission of the church is to show compassion, love and support to all of those who are serving in the military and their families as well as those who have lost loved ones while performing service. Mount Zion Baptist Church is located in the Village of Woodlawn and has as part of its ministry a focus on meeting the needs of our military heroes; our nation’s veterans.

Ohio Valley Goodwill and its Veterans Program Team Members under the direction of Grants Director, Charlie Blythe and Bill Darnell, Special Projects Manager, are extremely grateful to the Mount Zion Baptist Church members for their outreach and support of our nation’s veterans during this very memorable time of year. Goodwill serves more than 750 veterans annually that are struggling with homelessness and obtaining meaningful employment. The organization is very proud of its record of service which enables veterans and their families to regain their balance in our community. It is community support that allows Goodwill to provide these critical services through donations to its retail stores and auto auction. The proceeds of the sale of these items, go right back into the organization’s mission of service- helping veterans and others to attain economic self-sufficiency.
