Saturday, March 16th marked the 5th week of training for the new “PigAbilities” event in preparation for the 2013 Flying Pig Marathon which takes place on May 4th and 5th. Ohio Valley Goodwill Team members joined the more than 30 athletes that have been meeting at the University of Cincinnati Rec Center for the past 5 weeks to join in the weekly work-out as well as to enjoy the special visit of a “Random Oink” from the Flying Pig Marathon. The Random Oink team members cheered on the athletes as they made their way around the in-door track accomplishing their individual training goals for the day and passed out Flying Pig goodies to all of the team members. The PigAbilities team members will be moving to Friendship Park beginning Saturday, March 23rd for the remainder of their training preparations for the Flying Pig Marathon. This is the first time that CARA (the Community Ambassadors Resource Alliance) of which Goodwill is a founding member, has sponsored the “PigAbilities” event. “We really wanted to do something that focused on individual goal achievement over time, good nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices as well as participating in the Race itself,” said Debbie Moorehous, CARA Executive Director and “PigAbilities” Coordinator. Goodwill will sponsor a team of Race participants for this year’s event which will include individuals it serves as well as staff partners from its Marketing, Retail and Rehabilitation Services divisions. “Team Goodwill always looks forward to being part of the Flying Pig Marathon and supporting our athletes in participating in this wonderful community event,” said Sharon Hannon, Marketing Specialist. Watch for updates about Team Goodwill in the coming weeks as we prepare for the big Race!
