It’s that time of year! As spring rolls around, we turn our attention to cleaning and decluttering around the house. While we all know that spring cleaning is a good thing, sometimes it’s easier said than done. If the thought of cleaning your entire home at once is making you feel overwhelmed, we’re here to help!
To make spring cleaning more manageable, we’ve created a fun and easy decluttering and cleaning challenge with different tasks for each day. The best part is that it can be done in as few as five days, giving you plenty of time to enjoy your weekend! Here’s how it works:
Cleaning out your closets doesn’t have to be a chore! Make it quick and easy with the following steps:
Are you holding onto holiday décor that you no longer want or use? Bring all your decorations out of storage and take inventory of what you have. If an item is just taking up space year after year, don’t store it again””donate it! While you’re at it, look through your family’s old Halloween costumes and consider donating them, too. Ohio Valley Goodwill gladly accepts costumes at any time of year!
Day 3: Downsize toys and books
If you have kids, you know how easy it is to accumulate an extensive collection of children’s toys, games, puzzles, and more. The same is true for books””they seem to multiply! If you’ve reached the point when you have more ” stuff” than space, it’s time to downsize.
Go through all your shelves, toy chests, and storage bins one by one to remove anything that your family doesn’t want or need anymore. When you donate to Goodwill, you can feel great knowing that someone else will appreciate your gently-used items!
Giving your kitchen a deep clean can create a big impact! Start by clearing off the counters and wiping down surfaces such as the sink, cabinets, stove, fridge, and any other appliances. Next, go through each drawer and cabinet and make sure every item has a ” home.” If you realize you have too many dishes, novelty mugs, utensils, bakeware, or other kitchen items, you can always donate them to Goodwill! We recommend wrapping any glass items in newspaper to prevent them from breaking on your way to donate them.
Finish your spring cleaning week strong by tackling the garage! Remove any unneeded items and check Goodwill’s donation guide to see if you can donate them. Things like small electronics, certain sporting equipment, toys, decorations, and clothing are all donation-worthy, so don’t throw them out. At Ohio Valley Goodwill, we even accept car donations in Cincinnati. If you’re looking for a way to finally get rid of an older vehicle that’s taking up space in your garage, look no further than Ohio Valley Goodwill.
Ohio Valley Goodwill makes spring cleaning easy and convenient for you! When you’re finished sorting, cleaning, and decluttering your house, all that’s left is to gather up your donations and take them to your neighborhood Goodwill.
Not only will you enjoy a clean and organized home, but you’ll also have the satisfaction of knowing your donations are making a difference in Greater Cincinnati. We turn donated goods into revenue to fund vocational programs for individuals with disabilities and veterans, helping them go to work in their community!
