We all know the basic spring cleaning chores, like dusting the furniture, vacuuming the carpets, and washing the windows. But are there areas of your home that you might be forgetting to clean and organize? Here are some commonly-overlooked spots you don’t want to miss while spring cleaning:
Your children’s closets
Spring is a great time to give your children’s closets a deep clean. Start by removing everything from the closet and placing it on the bed. Then, sort through every piece of clothing one at a time to decide what should stay and what should go. Chances are that your child has outgrown quite a few pieces of clothing in the last year! Gently-used clothing and shoes that no longer fit your child can be donated to Ohio Valley Goodwill, where they’ll be repurposed in our retail stores.
Your jewelry box
Are you still holding onto any necklaces, bracelets, earrings, brooches, rings or watches that you never wear? Donate them to Goodwill and free up more space! We gladly accept jewelry donations of any kind. By donating to Goodwill, you can keep your jewelry box organized while helping others in need.
Your kitchen cabinets
When spring cleaning, don’t forget about your kitchen! Along with chores like sweeping and mopping the floors, sorting the pantry, and cleaning out the refrigerator, you’ll also want to take some time to organize everything inside your kitchen cabinets. Over the years, you’ve probably accumulated a surplus of plastic containers, drinkware, and kitchen utensils. Maybe you even have an extra toaster or blender that you don’t need. At Ohio Valley Goodwill, we appreciate donations of kitchen supplies and small appliances. Making some much-needed space in your cabinets is a surefire way to make your kitchen feel tidy and organized.
Your movie or music collection
Is your DVD or CD stash gathering dust on your shelves? With the rise of streaming services, you probably don’t use them much anymore! Consider donating your collection to Ohio Valley Goodwill, where your generous donation will be transformed into job training and employment services for individuals with disabilities.
Your garage
Lastly, don’t overlook your garage in your spring cleaning efforts. If you’re like most people, your garage could use some extra tidying up. It might be filled with things like sporting equipment, bikes, tools, holiday decor, and storage containers. Or, perhaps you have a vehicle taking up space in your garage or driveway that you don’t use anymore. If this is the case, donate your car to Ohio Valley Goodwill! We’re happy to accept vehicles (including cars, trucks, SUVs, RVs, motorcycles, and boats) in any condition. We have convenient donation drop sites around Cincinnati or you can arrange your vehicle to be towed for free!
At Ohio Valley Goodwill, your donations make a meaningful difference to people living right here in Greater Cincinnati.
