Sharing the Love this Valentine’s Day!

For more than a century, Ohio Valley Goodwill has been a fixture in the Greater Cincinnati community. Its network of retail stores have been around for generations and are much beloved by our many shoppers. This year, our network of 19 stores are showing off a fresh new look which makes shopping even easier and more fun and our customers are responding. We want to take a moment to share some love this Valentine’s Day and say Thank You to our wonderful shoppers who have supported our retail stores even during some of the most challenging times in our history. And, more than just that wonderful Goodwill experience that our shoppers enjoy, purchases help to support our mission of service which helps people with disabilities and our nation’s veterans go to work in the community.

In 2019, Goodwill served more than 3300 people and helped almost 900 to get jobs in the community. In 2020, during the height of the pandemic, many of the individuals that the organization helped to support in their jobs were suddenly laid off or furloughed as employers tried to deal with the impact of unexpected business closures. Goodwill’s team of Job Coaches through its Employment Services program worked diligently to help more than 125 individuals to either secure new jobs or regain their positions when businesses were able to re-open. The organization received the Ohio Success Award from Ohio Business Magazine in recognition of the Goodwill’s team response to COVID-19.

As Goodwill continues to recover in the New Year, we are grateful to our many shoppers and donors for their loyalty and generous support who help to make our mission of service possible. An added benefit that shoppers and donors may not realize is that the organization is also an environmental steward helping to recycle more than 52,000,000 lbs. per year and divert items from area landfills. The simple act of shopping and donating can truly be an act of love in our community and we appreciate the support.
