Even during the dog days of summer, Ohio Valley Goodwill’s staff team is hard at work helping our nation’s veterans. Since the early 1990’s Goodwill has been providing a host of services to our military heroes which includes everything from transitional housing to skill training to job placement as well as long-term case management support. The dedication of the Goodwill team members is in part due to the fact that many are military veterans themselves. Goodwill’s Veterans’ Services Case Manager, Shane Satterfield, is a retired Marine that served in the Gulf War and knows very well the challenges that veterans can face in returning to work in the community. Shane was kind enough to share his story as part of a series called “Goodwill Snapshots” and his full story can be found at www.cincinnatigoodwill.org/services/success.php. Goodwill’s commitment to our military veterans continues as the organization recently received a federal grant from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Program (HVRP) which will be used to provide job training and placement services to even more of our military heroes. “I am proud to be a military veteran and to now be in the role of helping my fellow service members to get back on their feet,” said Satterfield. Goodwill is grateful for generous community support that helps the organization to serve more than 700 veterans annually.
