The 2015 PigAbilities Training begins on Saturday, March 21st at Mirror Lake in Eden Park at 10:00 am and “Team Goodwill” is ready to kick off this year’s training effort! PigAbilities training is a five week training event to help athletes prepare to participate in the annual Flying Pig Marathon on Saturday, May 2nd. Ohio Valley Goodwill has been a founding member of the CARA-sponsored event since its inception and looks forward to the opportunity to launch this year’s training event on Saturday, March 21st.
PigAbilities offers support and encouragement for people with disabilities of all ages who want to successfully walk, run or wheel in a marathon event. To help people set/achieve their own personal distance goals The CARA Group provides a free five week training program prior to the PigAbilities event on May 2. Training with others is motivating and inspiring ““ plus it includes topics such as wellness, good nutrition and the benefits of physical activity. PigAbilities training also provides peer support from active volunteers.
On Saturday, May 2 all PigAbilities participants will gather for the 1:00 start time to complete their final mile and receive their PigAbilities medal at the Flying Pig Marathon Finish Line.
Everyone is welcome to train with The CARA Group! Training will be hosted at two outdoor locations this year.

“¢ Training Location #1 ““ Beech Acres Park, 6910 Salem Road in Anderson Township. Training is on the walking path on Saturday at 10am on March 28, April 4, April 11, April 18 and April 25 at 10am. Additional training on Wednesdays at 6:00pm at this location only.
“¢ Training Location #2 ““ Eden Park, Mirror Lake on Eden Park Drive (45202) on Saturday at 10am on March 21, (no training on March 28), April 4, April 11, April 18 and April 25.
Registration is required to participate in the Flying Pig PigAbilities event on Saturday, May 2; the $15 fee provides each participant with a numbered bib, event tee shirt, and event medal. Online registration must be completed by April 18th at www.flyingpigmarathon.com select ” PigAbilities”.
Be a Volunteer Guide
PigAbilities is also an opportunity for anyone to become a volunteer guide. Guides are encouraged to attend training sessions to provide ongoing support and encouragement to the participants. Guides are required to register for the PigAbilities event.
