Ohio Valley Goodwill's Dancing Star Shines During 2013 "Dancing for our Stars" Gala in Support of Butler County Board of DD!

The evening of Saturday, November 16th marked the dancing debut of Goodwill Community Services Manager, Michael Johnson and his partner, Deb Gooch, at the 2013 “Dancing for our Stars” Gala in support of the Butler County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Held at Receptions in Fairfield, this was the 3rd annual Dancing gala hosted by Friends of Citizens with Disabilities, the political action committee that works in support of the Board. Ohio Valley Goodwill was pleased to be a Gold Sponsor for this year’s event and was thrilled to have Michael Johnson represent the Goodwill team in such a memorable and entertaining way. The more than 200 guests enjoyed the evening’s fun-filled program which included a warm welcome from Master of Ceremonies, Bob Herzog, WKRC Channel 12 anchor, as well as video introductions and performances by the eight competing couples as well as featured dances by the Foxy Steppers, a senior ladies dance troupe. The dance competitors thrilled the assembled guests with routine after routine of animated dance moves that featured surprise highlights in each performance. The Goodwill team was on their feet in response to the debut of Michael Johnson and his partner, Deb Gooch, as they performed a medley featuring the Money song which then mashed into “Thrift Shop” by Mackelmore. Gooch works for Chaco Credit Union, which was a Platinum Sponsor of the event and of course, Johnson, represents Ohio Valley Goodwill. The accessories that Johnson and Gooch donned for the “Thrift Shop” part of their performance were actually items found at a Goodwill store. Other memorable performances were provided by Teddy Kremer, Honorary Reds Bat Boy and Crowd Favorite, David Campbell, who was elated at being selected for the award which is given to the most popular couple. The night’s events got off to a spectacular start with a wonderful performance by Cassie Sullivan and Mike Berting, who danced to “You’ve Got A Friend in Me.” The coveted Mirror Ball trophy was won this year by a team representing ViaQuest, Watoiya Williams and Julian Robb. Ohio Valley Goodwill congratulates Friends of Citizens with Disabilities and all of the dancers on their outstanding performances and their hard work in honor of the Butler County Board of DD and the individuals they serve. The organization is extremely proud of its own dancing star, Michael Johnson, and his memorable performance at this year’s dancing gala. The Gala organizers, Wendy Planicka and Connie Mehlman, were excited to report at the end of the evening that the 2013 “Dancing for our Stars” event had generated more than $20,000 in proceeds which will be used to support the individuals served by the Butler County Board of DD and their future levy campaign efforts.
