Voinovich to the facility on Thursday, June 17, 2010 for a tour of the agency. During the tour, Ms. Cahall had the opportunity to see many of the vocational training programs in action including Goodwill’s computer training, janitorial and food service programs. Helping to introduce Ms. Cahall to Goodwill’s services, was Kelly Manns, Assistant Director of Employment and Training Services and Charlie Blythe, Grants Director. A highlight of the tour was a visit to Goodwill’s dormitory that provides temporary housing for veterans through the organization’s Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program (HVRP). Charlie Blythe explained to Ms. Cahall that the organization has been providing service to homeless veterans since the early 1990’s and last year, served 559 veterans through this program. Several veterans were on hand to talk to Ms. Cahall and related first hand about their experiences and how Goodwill had assisted them with housing, personal and job related needs. “We always appreciate it when our elected officials and their staff visit the facility and are able to come away with the knowledge of how we are helping so many individuals with their vocational needs,” said Blythe. Further along on the tour, Ms. Cahall was able to capture a close look at Goodwill’s Work Adjustment Training program which provides work experience opportunities for men and women with disabilities, the donation production area, and even a look into the main retail store at the facility. “We were pleased that Ms. Cahall had the time to spend with us and we feel that she came away with a very good view of the job and work training opportunities that Goodwill offers,” said Kelly Manns.
