Ohio Valley Goodwill was pleased to welcome two new Leadership team members to the organization during the month of June. We are happy to have both Dawn Corley and Kelly Schoembs join the organization’s employee roster. We asked both Dawn and Kelly to share a little bit about their backgrounds and future visions with all of you.
Dawn Corley, Vice President of Retail
As the new Vice President of the Retail Division, Dawn will oversee Ohio Valley Goodwill’s 19 Retail locations as well as the Shop Goodwill team. In addition, she will lead initiatives for store growth, training and development.
Dawn’s long-term vision for Ohio Valley Goodwill is to maximize the organization’s impact on the community, making the organization a beacon for transformation and opportunity. Growth in our Retail Operations empowers our organization to provide more mission services within our community.
Dawn has 24 years of Retail experience and over 11 years of Non-Profit/Thrift experience. During the first half of her career, Dawn worked with big box retailers like Wal-Mart and Brookshire Brothers and brings that expertise to her new role. Dawn also has extensive experience in the Goodwill community, serving most recently as District Director for Goodwill Central Texas.
Kelly Schoembs, Vice President of Human Resources
Kelly Schoembs joined the Ohio Valley Goodwill as the new Vice President of Human Resources. Most recently, Kelly worked for five years as VP Organizational Development & Strategy at LOTH, a local, family owned company that integrates furniture, design and technology for commercial spaces. Before that, she worked for nearly 18 years at MetLife where she led numerous talent development initiatives, and lived and worked in Chicago, Minneapolis, Seattle, and Cincinnati. Kelly graduated from Miami University with a Bachelor of Science in Human Resources and Organizational Behavior. Kelly has more than 24 years experience working in the field of human resources and organizational development.
As the new Vice President of HR, Kelly will be overseeing all human resource functions as well as leading new and evolving initiatives to attract, develop and retain top talent at Goodwill
Kelly’s long term vision for Ohio Valley Goodwill is for every employee to fully realize the mission of Goodwill in their own lives. “Our people are the key to achieving our organization’s mission and goals. By focusing on ways each of us can enhance the quality of our lives, eliminate barriers to opportunity, and reach our full potential through learning and the power of work, we will not only meet, but exceed our ambitious goals to continuously improve and make an even greater impact on our community.”
On a personal level, Kelly is an active participant and fundraiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, various Multiple Sclerosis endeavors and the American Heart Association. With 4 children actively involved in a wide variety of sports, including soccer, basketball, football, lacrosse, and water polo- when Kelly isn’t at work, she is most often at an athletic field of one sort or another. She serves on her local school district’s athletic board and has coached youth soccer in the past. She resides with her husband and four children in the Montgomery area.
Welcome to Ohio Valley Goodwill and the Cincinnati community!
We are pleased to welcome both Dawn and Kelly to the Ohio Valley Goodwill Leadership team and look forward to their contributions to the organization and its 107 year mission of service.
