As a major sponsor and exhibitor for the 2015 Transition Boot Camp, Ohio Valley Goodwill was thrilled to have the opportunity to talk with the more than 300 attendees at this year’s event. This is the sixth consecutive year that Goodwill has been involved with the planning and coordination of the landmark event which is designed to provide critical employment and post-graduation information for families of students with disabilities.
Held on Friday, November 6th at the Sharonville Convention Center, the Transition Boot Camp is a collaborative effort led by University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) in partnership with service provider agencies and Hamilton, Butler, Clermont and Warren County Boards of Developmental Disabilities. The Boot Camp offers an array of important life information for students and their families as they prepare to move from the world of school to the world of work and adulthood. As an employment and training center for people with disabilities for almost 100 years, Ohio Valley Goodwill continues to demonstrate its commitment to its mission of putting people to work.
More than 300 participants attended a day-long series of break-out sessions on topics ranging from Employment First; secondary education opportunities; financial planning; community connections and most importantly, moving into the world of work. During the Vendor Fair portion of the event, Goodwill was pleased to talk with dozens of families about the comprehensive employment services that the organization is able to provide to transition youth.
Our thanks to UCEDD and all of the members of the 2015 Transition Boot Camp planning team for their efforts to make this year’s event the most successful ever!
