"Ohio Valley Goodwill Joins Hamilton County Developmental Disabilities Services for 2013 Celebration!"

Members of Goodwill’s program and marketing teams led by President and CEO, Joe Byrum, were delighted to join long-time partner Hamilton County DD Services during their 2013 Annual Awards Banquet on Monday, March 4th. As always, Goodwill is proud to be a sponsor of the prestigious event which is designed to showcase the gifts and abilities of individuals supported by the Board as well as the contributions of community members and professionals. The annual event is held in March in celebration of “National Developmental Disabilities Awareness” month. The 2013 celebration was particularly noteworthy as the evening began with a promotion of the ReelAbilities Film Festival which is set to premiere March 9th. This national initiative features movies that either star people with disabilities and/or are filmed by individuals. A special tribute was also given to retiring CEO, Michael DeFrancesco, from Ohio Valley Residential Services, for his 40 years of service to individuals with disabilities. Following dinner, the assembled more than 400 guests were treated to performances by the CRS Dance Team amd Band as well as Melodic Connections. The awards portion of the evening was made more poignant by the recognition of three different advocates in the categories of Self-Advocacy, Speaking Up and Personal Achievement; Kasey McCarthy, Vonceil Brown and Vicki Raabe, respectively. Ohio Valley Goodwill has worked in partnership with Hamilton County DD Services for more than 25 years and serves more than 600 people annually through its diverse array of skill training, job placement, coaching and recreation programs. Goodwill has been honored to be recognized three different times with the Award of Excellence for the outstanding quality of its programs and services as well as other awards in recognition of its advocates, staff and board of directors.
