While most people are stressing about hosting Thanksgiving dinner for their families which might include 10 or 20 people, Ohio Valley Goodwill’s volunteer Services Guild plans every year on serving enough food for almost 1000 people! The volunteer group which recently celebrated its 80th anniversary of service to the organization, plans and hosts the annual Thanksgiving luncheon event in partnership with Goodwill’s Food Services team. The delicious lunch includes all of the holiday trimmings with turkey, dressing, green beans, potatoes, cranberry and of course, pie!
More than 900 guests participate in the annual Thanksgiving Luncheon event which welcomes Goodwill staff from the organization’s many divisions and program participants. “We look forward to hosting this event every year,” said Sue Burreson, Guild President. “It’s always such a wonderful opportunity to come together and share the joy of the holiday season as a group,” added Burreson.
While the Thanksgiving luncheon is always a highlight of the season, this year’s luncheon marks the beginning of a major celebration event that the organization is approaching. In 2016, Ohio Valley Goodwill will be celebrating its 100th year of service to the Greater Cincinnati community and a host of special events will be taking place to commemorate the century milestone. Over the past 100 years, Goodwill has helped thousands of people with disabilities and our nation’s veterans to achieve personal success with a focus on helping people get jobs. “We take great pride in our long-standing tradition of service to the Greater Cincinnati community,” said Joe Byrum, President and CEO.
Ohio Valley Goodwill is grateful to the Service Guild for its generous support of the annual Thanksgiving luncheon event and to its Food Services training team and volunteers for their hard work on ensuring the 2014 luncheon was enjoyed by all of our honored guests.
