Friday, December 14th marked the occasion of the annual Board of Directors sponsored Holiday Luncheon event for Ohio Valley Goodwill. The traditional event provides an opportunity for Ohio Valley Goodwill’s Board of Directors, Volunteer Service Guild, Executive team, employees, referral partners and special guests to get together to celebrate the holiday season and the achievements of the past year in a relaxed, festive atmosphere. Held at the Sharonville Convention Center, this year’s event welcomed more than 160 guests who enjoyed a festive seasonal meal, the musical entertainment of a chamber trio and the program which accompanied the luncheon. Among this year’s special guests were State Representatives Denise Driehaus and Connie Pillich along with many of the organization’s referral partners. “It’s always meaningful to celebrate with all of our team members and partners during this time of year the accomplishments of Goodwill and the many lives that have been touched,” said Joe Byrum, President and CEO. Highlights of this year’s event included a check presentation to Goodwill President and CEO, Joe Byrum from Nancy Horton, President of the organization’s volunteer Service Guild. This year for the first time, two checks were presented by the Guild. One check to to be used for the organization and also a check was presented to Charlie Blythe, Grants Director, to be used for transportation for veterans served by Goodwill. Board Chairman, Charlie Wright then addressed the audience by giving an overview of the activities of the past year. The event also served as a tenure celebration ceremony for employees of the organization that have provided 20 years or more of service to Ohio Valley Goodwill. Included in this year’s recognition were: Tammy Artrip, Administrative Services and Dorothy Jones, Special Projects. To the surprise of all in attendance, and especially the recipient, Board Chairman Charlie Wright then honored CEO, Joe Byrum and recognized him for his 35 years of service to the organization and awarded him with a commemorative pin. Special Recognition was also given to Nancy Wooley, of Rehabilitation Services, who has been with Goodwill for 39 years. The 2012 Board-sponsored Holiday Luncheon event was capped off by a seasonal video presentation which featured the talents of Goodwill team members produced by Public Information Officer, Michael Flannery. The assembled guests were delighted by the humorous closing presentation.
