December 12, 2012 was made even more memorable this year as it marked the annual Holiday Luncheon event at Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries. The organization’s volunteer group, the Service Guild, in partnership with Goodwill’s Food Services Training team, co-host the annual celebration which brings program participants, staff and friends together for a delicious meal and to share some holiday cheer. More than 500 individuals participate in the annual event which is held at the organization’s headquarters in the Village of Woodlawn. Staff volunteers from the organization’s Work and Training programs all help to make the holiday-themed party as festive as possible. Participants not only enjoyed the traditional Italian pasta luncheon but also delighted to the musical accompaniment provided by local musician, Mark Macomber. “We were particularly pleased at how well this year’s celebration went,” said Laura Kumler, Work Evaluation/Training Services Manager. “It was my first year with Goodwill and being involved in this experience and I was very happy with the outstanding work of our Food Services team as well as the enthusiasm of our volunteers,” added Kumler. The annual Holiday Luncheon event is a long-standing tradition at Goodwill and has continued to grow over the years. “We’re so pleased that so many of our program participants, volunteers and team members can have this opportunity to be together in a fun, celebratory way at this special time of year,” said George Palmer, PR and Marketing Director. Goodwill offers an array of services for men and women with disabilities as well as our nation’s veterans which include everything from personal development and life-enriching activities to skills training and job placement. Last year, the organization served more than 3100 people and helped 818 to obtain community employment.
