Ohio Valley Goodwill is pleased to announce that the organization’s Chief Financial Officer, Mike Speed, has been selected as a finalist for the 2022 Business Courier C-Suite Awards in the nonprofit category. Now in its eighth year, the program recognizes top executives who have shown capable leadership and achieved strong results at Greater Cincinnati businesses and nonprofits.
The annual C-Suite Awards is designed to honor top-level executives who’ve shown outstanding leadership and driven stellar performance at Greater Cincinnati businesses and nonprofits.
A group of 42 finalists in 5 categories was chosen by a panel of outside judges. From that group, 14 winners are selected.
Mike Speed has been working for Ohio Valley Goodwill for 20 years as both Controller and now, for the past two years, as Chief Financial Officer. Through his lengthy tenure with Ohio Valley Goodwill, Mike has learned about the many responsibilities of managing a large nonprofit organization both financially as well as from a long-term planning point of view. Mike is a member of Ohio Valley Goodwill’s Executive team and works collaboratively with the organization’s Board of Directors to plan and manage the overall financial health of the organization including investments, daily operations, annual audits, accreditations and related operational details. Mike oversees all of the fiscal reporting responsibilities for the organization and works in partnership with his Accounting team to ensure that all financial practices adhere to the highest standards of transparency and ethical guidance.
Through Mike’s stewardship over the past 20 years, the organization has consistently received unqualified audits on an annual basis. [An unqualified audit reflects business financial statements that are transparent and compliant with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).] As past Controller and present Chief Financial Officer, Mike also helps to prepare the organization for its accreditation surveys which involve a thorough examination of the organization’s accounting and financial management practices. For the past 18 years, Ohio Valley Goodwill has received perfect survey outcomes as reported by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) placing in the top 3% of similar organizations nationally.
