Ohio Valley Goodwill is excited to announce that the organization will be partnering with the 2014 Ohio Renaissance Festival taking place on eight weekends from August 30 thru October 19, 2014 – Saturdays & Sundays plus Labor Day Monday. The Ohio Renaissance Festival is held at a permanent site located near Harveysburg, Ohio in Warren County north of Cincinnati. The Ohio Renaissance Festival is celebrating its 25th year anniversary this season. The Ohio Renaissance Festival first opened its gates in 1990 in between Harveysburg, Ohio and I-71 and has grown into a 30 acre permanent village with over 100 shops and 12 outdoor stages.
The festival is set in the fictional 16th century English village of ” Willy Nilly-on-the-Wash”, during the reign of Elizabeth I. Sir Walter Raleigh, Sir Francis Drake, Sir John Hawkins and John Dee are a few of the fictional figures that reside in Willy Nilly, along with some not so historical but very much entertaining residents. The festival features costumed performers on stages and in the streets, craft shops selling and demonstrating period themed handcrafted goods and artwork, renaissance themed food, and regularly scheduled comedy, music, and acrobatic shows. The performing cast including the Queen and her entourage along with representatives from each festival shop make a parade circuit through the fairgrounds once a day. The Ohio Renaissance Festival features full armored jousting, hundreds of costumed performers providing continuous entertainment on 11 stages, and the Marketplace where over 135 master artisans create, display and sell their hand-crafted treasures, and hearty food fit for a king. The festival also features the Tower of London Dungeon of Doom museum of horror. Visitors can engage in challenging games of skill and tests of strength.
