December 31st is always the busiest day of the year for Ohio Valley Goodwill as the organization’s generous donors rush to get their last-minute donations before the end of the year. The momentous day marks the last day that donors can get a tax receipt for their donations for the 2013 season.
The local news media including channels 5, 19 and Local 12 all visited Goodwill on the 31st to film the parade of vehicles filled with eager donors that drove up to the organizations’ attended Donation Centers located throughout the Greater Cincinnati community.
” We are so pleased that the media were able to come out and help us share the message of getting your donations in today before the end of the year,” said Ann Walters, Retail Sales Manager. Film crews recorded the activity as cars lined up to give their bags and boxes to the waiting Goodwill attendants on duty. ” Our Goodwill donation team always works very hard on this day and we are thankful to the community for their generous support of our mission of putting individuals with disabilities and our nation’s veterans to work,” added Walters.
Donations received on New Year’s Eve provide a head start on getting the needed amount to fully stock the organization’s network of 15 retail stores for the beginning of the New Year. Donations are sold in the stores and the proceeds are used to support Goodwill’s important employment and training programs for men and women with disabilities and our nation’s veterans.
Ohio Valley Goodwill is grateful to channels 5, 19 and Local 12 for their coverage of this year’s critical end of the year donation drive and to the Greater Cincinnati community for their on-going support.
