The month of January is Get Organized month and fortunately, Goodwill is here to help! With the New Year beginning and all the resolutions that go along with it, January is the perfect time to commit to getting more organized. In fact, the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) is sponsoring the first Get Organized Month this January. So, how do you go about getting started?
First, identify all the benefits getting organized can have in your life. Being organized contributes to a higher quality of life, too. Organized people experience lower stress, a greater sense of control, and even higher pay. Plus, they have more time to do the things in life that matter most to them, like spending quality time with friends and children, enjoying hobbies and other leisure activities.
Second, decide where you will start. Which area of your life is the most chaotic? Is it the unending piles of clothes that don’t fit, old computers that you’ll never use again or household appliances you no longer use? Find the area in your life that is really causing you the greatest stress, and start there.
The good news is once you’ve identified the area of most stress for you, Goodwill can help! We have 33 Attended Donation Centers in the Greater Cincinnati area with easy drive thru service and someone to help you to de-clutter your life. The best part is you can get a receipt for your efforts and feel good about recycling responsibly and getting organized- all at the same time! Now, that’s a good way to start off a New Year!
For more than 100 years, Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries has been helping put your donations to work; using the funds generated to support skill training and employment programs for tens of thousands people in our community. Just last year, Goodwill served more than 3500 people and helped more than 900 to get jobs in the Greater Cincinnati area.
“It really is a wonderful way to start a New Year,” said Vanessa Cornett, Goodwill Donations Supervisor. “With 33 Goodwill Donation Centers conveniently located in the Greater Cincinnati area, it makes it easy to de-clutter and get organized…and help someone else at the same time!” For a complete list of all 33 Greater Cincinnati Goodwill donation locations, please visit www.cincinnatigoodwill.org/donate.
