Goodwill organizations from throughout the state of Ohio worked collaboratively to host a Hiring Days event on Friday, September 17th and Saturday, September 18th. Interested applicants were welcomed at all 19 Goodwill store locations over the weekend and were provided an on-the-spot interview. Ohio Valley Goodwill was pleased to welcome 34 applicants to its various locations.
Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio, Goodwill Industries Serving Summit, Portage, Medina, Richland and Ashland Counties, Goodwill Industries of Wayne & Holmes Counties, Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries, Goodwill Industries of Northwest Ohio, Goodwill Industries of Columbus, Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries, Marion Goodwill Industries, Goodwill Industries of Licking and Knox Counties, Goodwill Industries of Erie, Huron, Ottawa and Sandusky Counties and Goodwill Easterseals Miami Valley worked in partnership to offer on-the spot interviews in every Goodwill store on September 17 and September 18. More than 150 retail locations throughout Ohio offered this event to potential job seekers.
” Goodwill has been an important employer and a vital social service agency for more than 105 years,” explained Michael Flannery, Public Information Officer. ” Collectively, our different Goodwill systems can offer hundreds if not thousands of exciting career opportunities. This event was a way to draw attention to these opportunities and leverage our collective voice across the region.” Locally, Goodwill was happy to receive media coverage by Local 12 and Channel 9 news.
In addition, the week of September 12-18th marked Direct Support Professional Recognition Week and Ohio Valley Goodwill was excited to join with the larger community in honoring its DSP team members. A recognition party was held at the end of the week and DSP team members received thank you gift cards and other treats during the week-long celebration event. “We are so grateful to every member of our Direct Support Professional team for their hard work and dedication to the individuals we serve in partnership with local County Boards of DD as well as the Veterans Administration and other partners,” said Steve Koons, Vice President of Mission Services. Last year, the organization provided services to almost 3000 people and helped 600 to get jobs in the community- even during a pandemic.
