Goodwill’s Service Guild at recent planning meeting preparing for upcoming mini fest.
It’s coming… A great way to celebrate the beginning of fall! In just about one month Goodwill’s Service Guild will hold its annual fall Mini Fest on Friday, October 4th and Saturday, October 5th. Held at the organization’s Woodlawn headquarters of Goodwill Industries, the festival hours are from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm both days and include homemade baked goods and candy, collectibles, an elegant Junque booth, special items from the Treasure Island Gift Shop, books, tapes and CD’s, and the always popular grilled hot dogs served during lunch on both days. The Goodwill Service Guild is also celebrating its 80th Anniversary this year so the festival is a very special event for the group this fall! “We work very hard to have lots of wonderful items available for all those who visit the mini fest and come out to support the work of the Service Guild,” said Sue Burreson, President of the group. The Service Guild hosts a mini fest twice each year – once in the spring and again in the fall to support Ohio Valley Goodwill’s mission to serve men and women with disabilities and our nation’s veterans. Members of the Service Guild work for days to prepare the extra special baked goods and candy that are available at the mini fest for the many people who come to the annual event. “Our annual mini fest has become known for the delicious treats that we have available. It’s a great way to reach out to the public and to people who just come in to shop in the Woodlawn store,” said Burreson. “It certainly helps to spread the message about what our group does to help others to become more aware about Goodwill’s mission to serve the needs of people with disabilities,” commented Burreson. The Service Guild has been presenting the annual festival events for dozens of years. The Guild has over 100 volunteer members who have been actively supporting the group for over 80 years to advance the mission of Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries. “We appreciate the great work that the Service Guild does on behalf of Goodwill and the programs that they offer throughout the year. The semi-annual festivals help to promote our very important mission to the public and assist in making more people aware of the important work that we do on behalf of people with disabilities,” said George Palmer, Goodwill’s Director of Public Relations and Marketing. Be sure to mark your calendar to attend the Service Guild’s upcoming Mini Fest on October 4th and 5th at Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries! We thank the Service Guild for its service and dedication to Ohio Valley Goodwill and the many people that are served by the organization.
