Crisp Fall air and sunshine welcomed the annual Goodwill Service Guild’s Mini-Fest held at the corporate facility in Woodlawn on Friday, October 5th and Saturday, October 6th. The two-day semi-annual event is planned and presented by the Service Guild and their many volunteer members as a way to promote the organization and to raise funds in support of their mission to assist Goodwill with its programs and services for men and women with disabilities and our nation’s veterans. The annual event features homemade baked goods and candy, an “Elegant Junque” booth, special items from the Guild’s Treasure Island Gift Shop, dozens of books, and the always popular grilled hot dogs served during lunchtime. “Our members work for weeks preceding the Mini-Fest to plan for the event and to prepare the very best that we offer during the two-day special event,” commented Nancy Horton, Service Guild President. “Many of our members prepare their extra special goodies for days before the festival just so that we have lots of baked goods and candy on hand for everyone who stop in at the event,” said Horton. The Service Guild has been presenting the annual spring and fall festivals for more than 25 years in support of Goodwill’s mission to put people to work. “It’s always a great way to reach out to the public and have them learn more not only about the work that we do, but also about Goodwill’s mission of serving the needs of people with disabilities and homeless veterans,” said Horton. The Goodwill Service Guild has more than 100 volunteers who have been actively supporting the group for over 75 years to advance the mission of Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries. “We appreciate the great work that the Service Guild does on behalf of Goodwill and the programs that they offer throughout the year. The semi-annual festivals help to promote our very important mission to the public and assist in making more people aware of the important work that we do on behalf of people with disabilities,” said George Palmer, Goodwill’s Director of PR and Marketing. Goodwill thanks the Service Guild for their dedication and support over that past many years!
