Ohio Valley Goodwill was pleased to be in attendance for the 50th anniversary celebration of the Butler County Board of Developmental Disabilities Community Recognition dinner on April 19th held at Receptions in Fairfield. As a longtime friend and partner of Butler DD, Goodwill was especially excited to celebrate the acknowledgement of team member, Summer McGriff, Program Supervisor, as a recipient of a Community Impact award.
One of the families that Summer helps to support in facilitating their daughter’s community participation, nominated her for the public recognition. “I am honored that I can be a part of helping someone to feel fully included in their community,” said Summer McGriff.
Ohio Valley Goodwill team members were pleased to be on hand to join the Board in celebrating 50 years of service to the Butler County community. Keynote Speaker for the Community Recognition dinner was noted newspaper columnist, Paul Daugherty with a featured appearance by his daughter Jillian. The theme of the evening was promoting awareness and appreciation of the contributions of people with disabilities to the larger community. Jillian illustrated this theme through her impromptu performance of a rap especially created for the 50th anniversary event which earned her a standing ovation.
As a sponsor and supporter of the Butler DD, Ohio Valley Goodwill was delighted to be part of the celebration of community integration opportunities which is a primary feature of its many programs and services.
