Miami University students can protect the environment and help others while moving out of Oxford
OXFORD, OH, April 24, 2018″”Miami University Spring 2018 finals, graduation, and move out are just a few weeks away. During move out, students can reduce waste by donating good quality furniture, clothing, appliances, food, and housewares to ShareFest 2018.
ShareFest is an annual donation drive that prevents usable items from going to the landfill by directing them to social service agencies and nonprofit organizations around the Oxford area. In 2017, thousands of Miami University students and Oxford residents donated approximately 87 tons of items. ShareFest is an easy way for students to help the environment and assist people in need.
ï‚·On-campus students can donate at designated areas in each residence hall from Wednesday, May 16 through Friday, May 18.
ï‚·Off-campus students can schedule a pickup from Wednesday, May 16 through Tuesday, May 22. They choose a date and a one-hour window and volunteers will pick up the donations right from the house or apartment.
ï‚·Students and Oxford residents may also drop off donations to the Chestnut Fields Parking Lot from Wednesday, May 16 through Tuesday, May 22.
ShareFest 2018 donations will benefit Butler County and Preble County Success, The Family Resource Center, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati, Lighthouse Food Pantry, Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries, and the Oxford Community Choice Pantry. Volunteer opportunities are available on the ShareFest website. Some groups may sell donations they receive, but all proceeds must benefit the needs of their clients.
ShareFest is a collaborative effort sponsored by the City of Oxford, Miami University, nonprofit organizations, social service agencies, local businesses, and religious organizations.
