It was a busy Queen Bee Half Marathon weekend and Ohio Valley Goodwill loved having the chance to debut it’s brand new “Bee-Tique” at the 2015 Queen Expo on Saturday, October 9th.The Queen Bee Expo kicked off the two day Half Marathon event which took place October 9th and 10th in downtown Cincinnati. With all cold weather running gear on sale for only $5.00, the Goodwill ” Bee-Tique” was a very popular new feature with this year’s Queen Bee Half Marathon race participants. The Goodwill team made the debut of the new “Bee-Tique” even more fun by having team members dress in their Halloween finest. As everyone knows, Goodwill is always the best place to not only create the most unique Halloween costumes but also, to get them at the best prices in town.
Ohio Valley Goodwill was not only a Royal sponsor of the high profile community event for the second year in a row, the organization also helped Queen Bee participants produce their very best “selfies” at the photo booth. Donning their honey-colored sunglasses and other accessories provided by Goodwill, Expo attendees and runners alike had the opportunity to commemorate this year’s Queen Bee participation in front of the photo back-drop provided for the event.
On Saturday, October 10th, a beautiful sunrise bright and early set the tone for the kick-off of this year’s Queen Bee Half Marathon event. Goodwill team members, Ann Walters, Vanessa Cornett and Sharon Hannon, were all excited about the chance to be part of this year’s Queen Bee race and took flight along with 5,000 other eager runners at the crack of dawn. The Goodwill team collected donations during the pre-race Expo as well as during the Queen Bee Race as part of the ” Do Bee A Good Bee And Donate To Goodwill” promotion for the second year in a row. The donation drive offers racers the chance to de-clutter, simplify their lives and help in a good cause.
Anyone who donated during the 2-day donation drive was entered to win a basket full of pampering goodies. The winner’s name was drawn by Betsy Ross, this year’s MC, on stage on Saturday, October 10th following the race. The 2015 Queen Bee winner of the Goodwill deluxe Spa Pampering Basket was Carmen Ferguson who will enjoy all of the wonderful spa goodies but also, a Pamper Package from the wonderful and totally indulgent Christopher Marcus Salon in Hyde Park Square.
Ohio Valley Goodwill is pleased and honored to be a partner with the annual Queen Bee Half Marathon which is designed to empower women in the Greater Cincinnati community. “We think it’s a wonderful event and are excited to support women in partnership with the Queen Bee Half Marathon team,” said Sharon Hannon, Interim Marketing Director. Goodwill salutes all of the participants in this year’s Queen Bee Half Marathon event. Please join us next year for even more spectacular new features for the 2016 Queen Bee!
