The Auditorium and Community Room at Ohio Valley Goodwill’s corporate headquarters in the village of Woodlawn was bustling with dozens of young adults seeking employment on Tuesday, September 24th. The job-seekers were there to be part of the Job Seeking Skills Training event presented by Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities and hosted in partnership with Goodwill. The annual training event is designed to prepare job seekers for an Employer Showcase and Job Fair taking place on October 2nd at the Sharonville Convention Center which offers participants the chance to present themselves to local employers.
The Job Seeking Skills Training focuses on what employers are looking for and helps attendees work on putting together their resumes, research current job openings and develop a 60-second elevator speech about their skills and abilities. Ohio Valley Goodwill’s Community Services team works in partnership with Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) helping job seekers to find employment situations which match their skills, interests and abilities. Last year, Goodwill helped 907 people to obtain employment in the Greater Cincinnati community and has been recognized as an outstanding provider of services and is Employment First certified.
” Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities is very pleased to sponsor the annual Job Fair to help match individuals looking for employment with area employers,” said Mark Fay, OOD Southwest Ohio Regional Manager. ” We are grateful to Goodwill and our other employers and partners for their support and participation,” added Fay.
