Reinforcing its mission to enhance people’s dignity and quality of life through learning and the power of work, Ohio Valley Goodwill joins the Giving Tuesday movement this year by featuring the employment success of many of the individuals now working in the community. People like Danny Williams, Grace Flannery and Celina James.
Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving that encourages people to do good during the holiday season. Over the past nine years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity. This year, Giving Tuesday takes place on November 28, 2023, and kicks off the giving season.
“At Goodwill, we live our mission every day by strengthening our communities and helping people achieve their full potential through learning, job training and employment placement,” said Mark Hiemstra, President and CEO. “Never has this movement been more critical than today. We’re pleased to do our part and participate in this global effort to create local impact.”
When you shop at your local Goodwill store in the Cincinnati area, almost 90 cents of every dollar spent are used toward creating employment and job training opportunities in your local community. Ohio Valley Goodwill uses the revenue to assist those facing challenges to finding employment, such as people with disabilities, our nation’s Veterans and others struggling with homelessness. Last year alone, Goodwill shoppers helped 759 individuals in the Greater Cincinnati community gain employment.
