On Friday January 23rd, Ohio Valley Goodwill was delighted to welcome Congresswoman Jean Schmidt to its Employment and Training headquarters in the village of Woodlawn. U.S. Representative Schmidt was cordially invited to tour the facility after attending the organization’s annual holiday luncheon event in December 2008.
The congresswoman spent more than an hour with Goodwill President and CEO Joseph Byrum as they engaged in a comprehensive tour of the many programs and services that the organization offers. Representative Schmidt was impressed with all of the employment and training activities that Goodwill offers but was particularly touched by her interaction with the veterans that are served through its Homeless Veteran Reintegration Program (HVRP). She commended the veterans for their history of service to the United States and wished them well on their individual futures. At the end of the tour and discussion, U.S. Representative Schmidt pledged her support of Ohio Valley Goodwill’s mission to put people to work. ” It is always an honor to welcome our elected representatives to Goodwill so they can truly understand the very important work we do to help individuals with disabilities and our nation’s veterans,” said Joe Byrum, President/CEO.
