3 Steps to a Spring-Cleaning Sweep

The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and it’s time to shed our winter coats. That can only mean one thing: Spring is almost here!

If you’re like many people, emerging from “hibernation season” calls for a thorough cleaning of your living space. But before you dive into that springtime deep clean, take some time to declutter your “stuff” and donate to Goodwill!

It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3 — here’s how to spring clean like a pro:

#1: Focus On One Room at a Time

Spring cleaning can quickly become overwhelming if you’re trying to tackle your entire home all at once. Instead, choose one room — or even one closet — to concentrate on for at least 30 minutes.

Remember, you don’t have to do everything in one day, either! Working on one area at a time is a lot less stressful, and once you’ve successfully decluttered an entire room, the momentum will keep on building.

#2: Sort Your Stuff

One proven method for decluttering and organizing is to sort your clutter into three categories: keep, donate, and toss. If you’re having trouble deciding whether or not to keep an item, think about the last time you used it. Will you use it in the future? Or is it “out of sight, out of mind?” Could someone else use that item more than you? If so, it’s a good candidate for your “donate” pile!

#3: Donate Items to Goodwill!

Once you’ve decluttered your home, it’s time to bring your gently-used donations to Goodwill in Cincinnati! We gladly accept clothing of all sizes and styles, shoes, accessories, sporting equipment, books, children’s toys, small electronics, kitchen items, and much more!
