Do you have a big job interview coming up? You might be interviewing for your very first job, or maybe it’s been a while since you were on the market. Either way, you want to make a great impression! One of the best ways to ” wow” your interviewer and find out more about a position is to ask plenty of good questions. Remember, a job interview isn’t just about the employer getting to know you “” it’s also a chance to learn about the company’s values, goals, and culture so you can decide if a position is the right fit for you.
If you’re wondering what questions to ask during a job interview, don’t worry “” Ohio Valley Goodwill is here to help. Every day, we provide job training, career support, and employment services to job seekers in the Greater Cincinnati facing barriers to employment. It’s how we fulfill our mission to change lives through the power of work!
As you’re getting ready for your next interview, take a look at this list of questions to ask the interviewer:
Question #1: What are the day-to-day responsibilities of the role?
Even if the job description for the position you’re applying for included a long list of tasks, it’s best to clarify the expectations for the role. Sometimes, job descriptions can be too general or vague to give you enough information about a particular position. Asking this question will help you understand exactly what to expect when you’re working.
Question #2: What does success look like in this position?
It’s hard to be successful at a job when you don’t know how your work will be evaluated. Ask the interviewer how your performance will be measured in the position you’re applying for. Ideally, the company will have regular update meetings with employees to provide updates and give personalized feedback.
Question #3: What’s your favorite part about working at this company?
This is one of the most important questions you can ask the interviewer because it will give you insight into what the job is really like. If the interviewer sounds cheerful and enthusiastic, it’s a helpful sign that the job is a good place to work. This question also gives you an opportunity to learn more about the workplace culture and environment.
