With the official celebration of the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act rapidly approaching, Ohio Valley Goodwill’s Public Information Officer, Michael Flannery and Honorary Chairman Robert Harris are teaming up to film a series of promotional videos to get the word out. The pair have been friends for many years so working together on this very important civil rights anniversary was a natural.
“I’ve long been an admirer of Robert’s activism and of his ability to convey important messages to the community at large,” said Michael Flannery. “He is the perfect spokesperson for letting everyone know about the ADA25 Celebration,” added Flannery.
Ohio Valley Goodwill is an “Inspiring People” sponsor for the upcoming event which will take place on Monday, July 27th on Fountain Square. As Public Information Officer, Flannery is offering his video skills to help Robert and the planning committee to get the word out about this year’s historic event.
The ADA25 celebration will begin with the inaugural Disability Pride March beginning at 9:30 am at Cincinnati City Hall. The March will proceed to Fountain Square with the formal ADA 25 program beginning at 10 am.
Signed into law by President George HW Bush on July 26th 1990, the ADA was the world’s first comprehensive declaration of equality for people with disabilities.
The ADA Anniversary is a time that we can reflect positively on a law that has made a great impact on the lives of people with disabilities and our country as well as our city over the past 25 years. The theme for the ADA 25 Celebration is ” Can Do” and showcases Cincinnati’s ” Can Do” Spirit in the inclusion of people with disabilities in our community.
Please join Ohio Valley Goodwill, Honorary Chairman Robert Harris and a host of other Cincinnatians at City Hall on Monday, July 27th at 9:30 am for the ADA 25 inaugural Disability Pride March and at 11 am at Fountain Square for the ADA 25 ” Can Do” Celebration!
