Congress created the AbilityOne Program in 1938 to empower Federal Government agencies to procure goods produced by individuals with disabilities. As one of the nation’s leading employers of individuals with disabilities, Goodwill has been a long-time participant in the program. Here in Cincinnati, the Ohio Valley Goodwill Industrial Services division gives individuals with disabilities the opportunity to participate fully in their community while earning money in the fields of assembly, packaging, kitting and fulfillment. Recently, our heartfelt commitment to providing these individuals with the best employment opportunities and producing quality goods in accordance with the AbilityOne program was recognized by SourceAmerica, an advocacy organization which helps create partnerships between employers such as Goodwill and the Federal government.
The entire Industrial Services team is deeply honored to receive this recognition. Everyone at Goodwill is a tireless advocate for individuals with disabilities. Though seeing the men and women we serve live happier lives and participate fully within their communities is its own reward, it is a blessing to know that our hard work is not going unnoticed.
