Ohio Valley Goodwill was pleased to be an exhibitor for the 2015 Autism Expo which took place on Saturday, April 4th at Sharonville Convention Center. This year’s event welcomed more than 60 different exhibitors including Goodwill as well as a host of different activities for the families, individuals and other interested people attending the Expo.
Goodwill has been an exhibitor and sponsor for the annual Autism Expo since it’s beginnings almost 10 years ago. “It’s so interesting because when I started working in the disability field years ago, the incidence of Autism was reportedly 1 in 2500 births,” said Sharon Hannon, Goodwill Marketing Specialist. “Now the incidence is 1 in 55 births. It just points out how vital services are for individuals and families that have this diagnosis,” added Hannon.
Ohio Valley Goodwill serves more than 700 people a year with Developmental Disabilities and many of whom are on the ASD spectrum. Goodwill’s mission is to help people get jobs in the community and achieve personal success. As such, the organization has a number of award-winning programs and services that are designed to support individuals in their vocational goals.
