Ohio Valley Goodwill was pleased to receive a much-awaited donation from the Con-Way Freight Company on Wednesday, December 17th at the organization’s Tri-County headquarters. The donation was the result of an employee campaign effort initiated by Bonnie Scott, Account Executive, with the Con-Way Freight company in the early Fall of this year. Scott had suggested Ohio Valley Goodwill to be the designated charity for the company’s holiday giving campaign and coordinated all of the outreach efforts once the Con-Way team approved the idea. On December 17th, a Con-Way truck carrying 5000 pounds of employee donated clothing, furniture, toys and housewares as well as holiday decorations was delivered to the Goodwill HQ.
“Goodwill is so excited about this new Northern Kentucky partnership with the Con-Way Freight company,” said Michael Flannery, Public Information Officer. “Goodwill serves thousands of people with disabilities and our nation’s veterans in the Greater Cincinnati area and donations like this help make it possible for us to change lives,” added Flannery. Last year, Goodwill served more than 3,100 people and helped 947 to get jobs in the community. It is through community partnerships with companies like Con-Way Freight that the organization’s mission has been made possible for almost 100 years.
In addition, to the truck full of thoughtful donations, the Con-Way team led by Michael Trebour, presented Flannery and Retail Sales Manager, Ann Walters, with a check from the Con-Way Charitable Foundation for $150.00. “These gifts really help us during the holiday season,” said Ann Walters. “Thank you for your generous support that will help so many people this year,” added Walters. The best news of the day was that the Con-Way Freight company views this as only the beginning of an on-going partnership with Ohio Valley Goodwill which will expand to its other satellite locations next year.
Channel 19 news, WXIX, was also on hand to film the donation and check presentation event and will air the story on its evening newscast on 12-17 at 6:30 and 10:00 pm. Our thanks to the Con-Way Freight company and its employee team for their wonderful holiday donation effort as well as to Channel 19 for their coverage of the generous donation story.
