The beginning of November always signals a count-down to the annual Thanksgiving Day Race for Ohio Valley Goodwill. Taking place on Thursday, November 27th in downtown Cincinnati, this year’s race marks the 5th year that Goodwill has sponsored donation stations at both the start of the race and at Mile 2. On Thanksgiving morning, Goodwill volunteers join with thousands of enthusiastic runners and walkers in the annual holiday tradition that not only allows you to enjoy your delicious meal guilt-free later in the day but also, offers the opportunity to give back to the Greater Cincinnati community.
Last year, Greater Cincinnatians donated more than 5,000 lbs. of coats and other cold weather gear during the 2013 Race and this year, Goodwill and race organizers are hoping to break that record. If you aren’t already registered to participate, there’s still time! Visit www.thanksgivingdayrace.com and sign up today! It’s not only a healthy thing to do, it’s also really fun. The best part is, you can show your good will in a hands-on fashion by bringing a donation and dropping it off at the two easy-to-find donation stations, at the Start and Mile 2.
Musicians Mark Macomber and Michael Flannery will once again be joining the Goodwill team to entertain the racers and donors as they pass thru the Mile 2 donation area. Music is always appreciated by the Thanksgiving Race participants as it encourages them to focus on the joy of the day and feeling good with family and friends. Plan to join Goodwill this Thanksgiving morning and bring some warmth to share with others. Your donations help Goodwill to provide work and training services for individuals with disabilities and our nation’s veterans- always a good thing!
