"Ohio Valley Goodwill Announces 2011 Partnership with 102nd Thanksgiving Day Race!"
Ohio Valley Goodwill is delighted to once again be a part of the historic Thanksgiving Day Race. The organization will for the second year in a row host two Donation Stations- one at the Start of the Race and the second at Mile 2. In accordance with the 102nd Thanksgiving Day Race theme, the Goodwill Donation Stations will feature ” I Really Can Cans” where our enthusiastic volunteers will graciously accept your generous donations of coats, jackets, sweatshirts, gloves and other items you might not need once the Race starts. This year, Goodwill will have tents marking the Donation Stations at both the start and mile 2 as well as large blue donation containers or ” I Really Can Cans” lining the route in both locations. The Mile 2 Donation Station will also feature music by local musician Mark Macomber; a long-time Goodwill volunteer. The 102nd Thanksgiving Day Race theme this year, ” I Really Can” is especially meaningful to Ohio Valley Goodwill as the organization has been helping people with disabilities learn they ” really can” for the past 95 years. All items donated to Goodwill are sold in its network of stores and the proceeds are used to support its employment and training programs. Each year, Goodwill helps thousands of people in Greater Cincinnati find out for themselves that they ” really can” work, earn a paycheck and contribute to their community.

The 2011 Race will also mark the return of ” Team Goodwill” ““ a group of Goodwill employees that will proudly represent the organization during this year’s event. This year’s version of the team features a new ” star” running partner- Matt Graves. |

Matt is a participant in Goodwill’s Westwood Work Training Center is very excited to be part of this year’s ” Team Goodwill” racers.Matt has been running for fun for the past five years and is very much looking forward to being part of the Thanksgiving Day Race.
