"Ohio Valley Goodwill Hosts Woodlawn Chamber Luncheon Meeting"

Ohio Valley Goodwill was pleased to be the host location for the quarterly Woodlawn Chamber luncheon meeting on Wednesday, September 21st. The featured guest speaker was Goodwill’s own Public Information Officer, Michael Flannery who spoke to the chamber audience about the many facets of the organization’s programs and services for men and women with disabilities and opportunities for homeless veterans. An important part of Flannery’s program centered on Goodwill’s Industrial Services division and the work that department offers for local business and industry. The division offers a wide array of contract work for area companies including assembly work, packaging, inspecting, shrink-wrapping, and a variety of other quality activities for business and industry. The Industrial Services division also helps to provide work training opportunities for many of the individuals who come to Goodwill each day to learn important job and vocational skill development. The income from these activities also provides a way for the trainees to earn a paycheck while gaining important work skill development. Many of the chamber guests were able to take a tour of the Goodwill facility during the noontime luncheon. “I feel that it is important for guests such as the Woodlawn Chamber to see first-hand the important work that we do here at Goodwill and for our own neighbors to understand how crucial it is to have the support of local businesses,” said Flannery. Goodwill has had a long-time involvement with the Woodlwan Chamber and currently, George Palmer, Goodwill’s PR and Marketing Director serves on the chamber board. “We are always pleased to have the Woodlawn Chamber meet at our facility as it helps to introduce more businesses to our important mission of putting people to work,” mentioned Palmer.
