The Senator was provided with a comprehensive tour of the facility and its programs and services by President and CEO Joe Byrum along with Board Chair, Charlie Wright. At each location in the facility, Goodwill’s staff team provided a detailed overview of the services provided in the program being visited. The Senator was interested to learn about Goodwill’s award-winning Center for Advocacy, Recreation Education program; its skill training programs, its impressive Veteran services operation as well as to tour the area where individuals sponsored by local county boards of DD learn basic work skills. In addition, the organization’s job placement, work evaluation, job coaching and other support services were showcased. Rehabilitation Director, Steve Koons emphasized the community-oriented focus of the Goodwill programs and the collaborative partnerships that exist all directed towards the mission of putting people to work. The Senator was also treated to the debut of Goodwill Public Information Officer, Michael Flannery’s video which graphically explained the overall economic impact of Ohio Valley Goodwill and its employees on the local community. Overall, the Senator was able to spend more than hour meeting with the Goodwill team and learning about the organization’s important mission of putting people to work. Ohio Valley Goodwill is grateful to Senator Coley for making time in his busy schedule to visit the organization’s programs that help individuals receive the vital employment and skill training services that result in job placement and ultimately, the important economic well-being of the local community.
