"Ohio Valley Goodwill Honors HCDDS Superintendent for Outstanding Service!"

During a formal reception in honor of retiring Hamilton County Developmental Disabilities Services (HCDDS) Superintendent  Cheryl Phipps, Ohio Valley Goodwill President and CEO, Joe Byrum presented  Phipps with a donation in her name to CARA (Community Ambassadors Resource Alliance); an organization that Phipps helped to found. CARA is a group 16 non-profit organizations dedicated to raising awareness and funds to enrich the lives of people with developmental disabilities. Superintendent Phipps was a strong proponent of the CARA group and its mission since its beginnings in 2004. “We thought this would be a fitting tribute to Cheryl’s leadership and advocacy efforts on behalf of people with disabilities throughout her illustrious career and especially, in recognition of her service to the citizens of Hamilton County,” said Joe Byrum, Goodwill President and CEO.

The reception was hosted by Hamilton County Developmental Disabilities Services (HCDDS) and welcomed such luminaries as John Martin, Director of the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities and Todd Portune, Hamilton County Commissioner, among many of the other honored guests. The donation to CARA will be used for the Cheryl Phipps I Learn Initiative which will sponsor  I-Pad training and technology as well as application purchase for  individuals and families  served by Hamilton County DD Services and their partners. Since 2004, CARA has provided enrichment opportunities for hundreds of people with disabilities served by HCDDS and the partner agencies. Ohio Valley Goodwill wishes Superintendent Phipps well  in the next chapter of her life’s journey and thanks her for her outstanding leadership in Hamilton County over the past 11 years.
