Festooned with flowers hand-made by participants in Goodwill’s CARE (Center for Advocacy, Recreation and Education), the 3rd annual CARE prom was the social event of the summer season. Attendees danced to tunes, snacked on yummy appetizers and posed for photos in their formal attire provided by Goodwill’s retail team led by Sales Manager, Ann Walters. The third annual Prom event is a yearly celebration planned and coordinated by the CARE program participants and staff, and is looked forward to all year long. Brightly colored tissue flowers hand-created by participants, made a festive background for the fashionable attire worn by Prom attendees. Dancers showed off hand-made corsages and boutineres that accented their outfits perfectly. More than 50 individuals were part of this year’s Prom event which also welcomed parents and Goodwill staff members. “Our team is always excited about the Prom because it really gives everyone an opportunity to look their best, feel good about themselves, and truly, just to have fun,” said Lois Kramer, CARE Supervisor. Goodwill’s award-winning CARE program was recently singled out for Exemplary commendation during the organization’s CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) survey audit for its “diverse, ever-changing and stimulating” design which benefits its participants. “We are very proud of the CARE program and the many experiences we are able to offer to the individuals we support,” said Leslie McCurley, Asst. Director of DD Services.
