On Monday, April 5th, twelve members of Ohio Valley Goodwill’s team including advocates and staff members marched in the annual Reds Opening Day parade. Part of the ritual of welcoming Spring to the Greater Cincinnati area, the Reds Opening Day parade provides the opportunity for Goodwill along with long-time partner, Hamilton County Developmental Disabilities Services to enhance awareness about individuals with developmental disabilities and the services both organizations provide.
” We were thrilled to have the opportunity to march in this year’s parade,” said Katie Wietmarschen, Goodwill Community Preparation Program Manager. ” Goodwill promotes community inclusive activities as part of our on-going program efforts,” added Wietmarschen.
Thousands of enthusiastic Reds fans lined the streets of downtown Cincinnati as the parade participants waved and proudly displayed their organizational banners. ” I think the Reds Opening Day parade is really the official beginning of the Spring season in Cincinnati,” said Wietmarschen with a smile.
