Summer is all about having fun in the sun, and at Ohio Valley Goodwill, we believe everyone deserves to enjoy a fulfilling and engaging summer season!
Our award-winning CARE (Center for Advocacy, Recreation and Education) program provides recreational, social, and personal development options and opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
CARE is based on the idea of inclusion and building community and belonging through meaningful experiences in the Greater Cincinnati area. Participants are encouraged and supported to become involved in as many different community-based activities of their choice as possible.
All year long, our CARE team works hard to build a schedule of fun weekly outings and activities for participants based on each individual’s expressed personal interests.
Throughout the summer, examples of these opportunities can include social outings, community events and celebrations, and beloved summertime traditions, like attending a Cincinnati Reds game!
A hallmark of the CARE program is that participants have consistently chosen to volunteer to help others in the Greater Cincinnati community. Examples of this giving spirit have included participants visiting the SPCA to help with animal care, volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House, helping assemble meals for JCC Meals on Wheels, and holding a food drive for Shared Harvest Food Bank, among many others.
Programs and services like CARE are a clear example of our mission in action, empowering individuals and eliminating barriers to personal and vocational success.
With every donation or purchase from a Cincinnati Goodwill retail store, you’re supporting this mission and helping us continue to provide life-changing services to those who need them most.
