At Ohio Valley Goodwill, we celebrate independence and inclusion year-round! Everyone deserves the opportunity to live an enriched life and be fully included in their communities. That’s why we work every day to help individuals with disabilities empower themselves and achieve their goals.
This Independence Day, we’d like to highlight a few ways Ohio Valley Goodwill supports the independence of individuals with disabilities as they attain personal and vocational success:
Ohio Valley Goodwill offers pre-vocational training that helps people with disabilities learn the “hard skills” and “soft skills” needed to find and retain meaningful employment in their communities. From problem-solving and teamwork to basic computer skills and on-the-job safety, these programs help set individuals up for success when seeking employment.
It’s empowering to find a career that aligns with your passions and strengths. Ohio Valley Goodwill’s Career Planning services provide one-on-one guidance to help individuals with disabilities identify a career direction that fits their interests and then develop a detailed plan for achieving integrated employment.
Our Job Development and Placement Services help connect individuals with local employers in the Greater Cincinnati community. Our Employment Specialists provide help with essential services such as resume writing, interview preparation, job search assistance, and job shadowing opportunities.
Additionally, we offer retention services to assist individuals with any post-employment needs such as effective time management, employee/ employer communication, and securing additional community resources to ensure continued employment success.
Ohio Valley Goodwill’s Work Site Support staff, or Job Coaches, assist individuals with disabilities in maintaining employment by offering worksite supports both on the job and outside of the workplace.
By assisting with job training, workplace expectations, and necessary accommodations, this support helps individuals complete their work confidently and contribute effectively to the workforce.
The opportunity to be fully involved and engaged in our communities is a form of freedom that many of us take for granted. That’s why Ohio Valley Goodwill focuses on providing recreational, social, and personal development opportunities for individuals with disabilities through our award-winning community-based social integration program called CARE (Center for Advocacy, Recreation, and Education).
Participants in the CARE program are able to pursue their interests, connect meaningfully with their community, and form lasting friendships. It’s inclusion in action!
Each year, Ohio Valley Goodwill helps hundreds of individuals empower themselves through meaningful employment and community inclusion — and you can be a part of our mission.
Simply by shopping at a Cincinnati Goodwill store or donating your gently-used goods, you’re making a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities and the veterans we serve. Thank you for supporting the power of independence and inclusion in your community!
