You open a box expecting warm holiday cheer to leap out of storage, but instead, you find tired old ornaments and Santa Claus figurines. Your joy quickly sinks away.

Allow Yourself a Trip Down Memory Lane
Parting with holiday décor is no easy task, so it’s important you recognize the emotion involved. The holidays bring with them treasured memories of celebrations gone by. It’s true that items can spark those happy recollections, but even if you choose to say goodbye to a piece of décor, take comfort in knowing the memories will remain. Allow yourself time to recall those moments while you sort through items, but then set those thoughts aside and get down to business!
Ask Yourself the Important Questions
As you sort through your décor, stop with each item and ask yourself if it brings you happiness or if it holds sentimental value. If your answer to both of those questions is no, consider letting it go.
The next step is to assess the condition. If it’s in good shape, it could bring joy to someone else. Set those items aside to donate to Ohio Valley Goodwill!
Donate and Refresh
Once you’ve sorted the items you’d like to keep and which can be donated, find your nearest Ohio Valley Goodwill donation center and drop off your donations. Before you go, however, make a list of décor you’ll need to fill the places left by the items you’re donating. Shop your nearby Goodwill thrift store for vintage and gently used holiday decorations to give your home a refreshed festive look!
