As the Title Sponsor of the PigAbilities event within the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon, Ohio Valley Goodwill is delighted to announce a record-setting number of participants for this year’s event. Taking place on Saturday, May 6th at 12 noon, the PigAbilities event is designed to be fully accessible and welcoming to athletes of all abilities who wish to be part of the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon weekend. More than 600 athletes and coaches are signed up to participate in the PigAbilities event which is a new record for participation this year!
” As the Title Sponsor of the PigAbilities event for the past seven years, Ohio Valley Goodwill could not be more excited to welcome all of the athletes and coaches participating in this year’s event,” said Sharon Hannon, Marketing Director and Event Coordinator. Goodwill worked collaboratively with Pig Works, Paycor and local County Boards of Developmental Disabilities to spread the word about this year’s PigAbilities event. Dozens of volunteers will also be on hand to cheer on the determined athletes and celebrate their success upon crossing the Finish Swine.
PigAbilities is designed to be the culmination of a pre-event training commitment on the part of the athletes to learn about good nutrition; the importance of fitness and regular exercise as well as, the fun of being part of a team in the larger community. PigAbilities athletes finish the final mile of the Marathon and receive their medals in recognition of their commitment and hard work. Find out more about PigAbilities at https://flyingpigmarathon.com/flying-pig-marathon-weekend/event/pigabilities. Mark May 6th on your calendar and plan to cheer on our athletes during the 2023 PigAbilities event.
This year for the first time, the PigAbilities event will have an Honorary Chairman, Mr. Thane Maynard, Director of the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden. Maynard is being recognized for the Zoo’s support of the PigAbilities event, which provides registrants with free passes when they participate in PigAbilities. Mr. Maynard’s role as Honorary Chairman for PigAbilities was announced on April 19th at the Flying Pig Community Scholars Breakfast. Goodwill welcomes Mr. Maynard as Honorary Chairman and looks forward to his participation on race day on May 6th!
Ohio Valley Goodwill is grateful to Hamilton County DDServices for their coordination and support of the Training Meet-Ups held weekly since February which enabled athletes to join with members of Queen City Running and other community members as they prepared for this year’s PigAbilities event. Thank you for your support!
