Ohio Valley Goodwill Supports National Autism Awareness Month

National Autism Awareness Month in April aims to celebrate and promote acceptance for Autism which occurs in one in every 54 children in the United States as stated on the National Today website. First held in the year 1972 by the Autism Society, Autism Awareness Month emphasizes the need for public awareness to promote acceptance, celebrate the differences, and be more inclusive towards autistic individuals around us. As an Employment and Training Center serving people with disabilities including those with Autism for more than a century, Ohio Valley Goodwill is pleased to have the opportunity to help promote acceptance and inclusion during Autism Awareness Month. Annually, Goodwill serves an average of 3000 people and helps more than 920 individuals to obtain community employment.
