Ways to Honor Our Nation’s Heroes this Veterans’ Day

Veterans Day 2023 is on Saturday, November 11, and it’s an important day set aside for our country to show respect and gratitude to the men and women who have served in any of our branches of the military.

In 2022, there were approximately 16.5 million military veterans living in the United States. When you consider their families, that’s a lot of people who have made sacrifices for our freedom!

Did you know that Goodwill Industries is one of the largest nonprofits that benefits veterans? In 2022, Ohio Valley Goodwill provided assistance to 353 veterans right here in the Cincinnati region.

In honor of Veterans Day, we’ve put together three easy ways for you to recognize and support the veterans in your community:

#1: Give Back

When you donate to Goodwill in Cincinnati, whether it’s by donating household goods, or by giving monetary donations, you’re supporting specialized services for veterans and others who need a hand up.

Ohio Valley Goodwill operates several programs that provide employment and housing services to veterans, all aimed at creating self-sufficiency and long-term success.

#2: Shop at Goodwill

It sounds simple, but shopping at a Goodwill thrift store truly makes a big impact. When you thrift with us, you’re not only getting a great deal and shopping sustainably, but you’re also supporting services for veterans who need help finding affordable housing, skills training, or employment.

#3: Share the News

Probably the simplest way to give back is by sharing this information. Tell your friends and family how they can support veterans in our community by supporting Goodwill’s mission. With your help, we can make a positive impact in the lives of more Cincinnati-area veterans!

After all, they’ve sacrificed for us. It’s our turn to show gratitude. Learn more about Ohio Valley Goodwill’s services for veterans, and give back this Veterans Day. Thank you, veterans!
