Modesta Okafor has been working for Cinemark Theaters since January of 2019. Like other employees at the time, she was impacted by the employer lay-off’s related to COVID-19 and the mandated closings of non-essential work places. Fortunately, she was able to return to her position following the gradual re-opening of cinemas in the area as people began to return to going to the movies.
Modesta is an Usher/ Ticket taker and her duties include greeting customers and directing them to the right theater. She also cleans and stocks items at the front desk. On her off time she likes to spend time with her family and go shopping. She likes to watch movies- surprise!
Jennifer Bonenfant was her counselor through Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) and referred Modesta for Goodwill’s Employment Services team for job development. ” Modesta is another wonderful example of a person who was dedicated to her job and despite the pandemic, wanted to return to her position as soon as it was possible to do so. It is this commitment and dedication that make Modesta such an invaluable employee to her employer,” said Mark Leugers, Goodwill Employment Services Manager.
Ohio Valley Goodwill congratulates Modesta on her hard work and determination in doing such a good job in her position at work despite all of the environmental challenges she has had to overcome. To find out more about Goodwill’s Employment Services, visit www.cincinnatigoodwill.org/services.
