Despite all of the changes to the annual ShareFest Donation Drive in partnership with Miami University and the city of Oxford, the 2021 ShareFest Donation Drive resulted once again in wonderful support from the Butler County community and Miami students. Due to COVID-19, the annual event was smaller in scale than in previous years as home pick-ups were not possible and donors had to drive to Chestnut Fields in order to make their donations. Once again however, the community demonstrated its commitment to responsible recycling and sustainability by donating more than 121, 290 pounds of items during this year’s drive. As the official Donation Sponsor for 2021, Ohio Valley Goodwill joined with the City of Oxford and Miami University and local beneficiary groups to collect donations from college students and community members as they moved out of dorms and housing. ShareFest is an annual donation drive that prevents usable items from going to the landfill by directing them to social service agencies and nonprofit organizations around the Oxford area. This year’s event took place from May 13th through 19th at Chestnut Fields in uptown Oxford and Ohio Valley Goodwill provided three donations trailers on site as well as a donation team throughout the event.
ShareFest 2021 donations will benefit Talawanda Oxford Pantry and Social Services (TOPSS) and the Open Hands Food Pantry and Social Service in Hamilton (McGonigle) as well as Ohio Valley Goodwill.
” As a member of the Oxford business community, Goodwill is very pleased to have been the Official Donation Sponsor of the ShareFest Donation Drive in 2021,” said Jeff Eastham, Operations Director. “We were delighted to see the generous response of the students and the larger Oxford community.”
The Oxford Goodwill store is located at 203 South Locust Street (close to the Oxford library) and offers a selection of fashion items, books and collectibles and has been well received by the community. The Oxford Goodwill store also features a drive-thru donation center for the convenience of local donors.
